Dr. Al-Sani completed his Paediatrics training at Montreal Children’s Hospital and completed Paediatrics Emergency training at SickKids Hospital, University of Toronto. Dr. Al-Sani is pursuing subspecialty fellowship training in Point-of-care Ultrasound (POCUS) at SickKids Hospital. Joining this program was a no-brainer since it is one of its kind in the country.
On a monthly basis, this unique POCUS program attracts elective trainees from different medical specialties and from every continent of the globe (unfortunately we haven’t had an interested physician from Antarctica yet!). He personally and professionally enjoys teaching and interacting with the international elective POCUS trainees we get at SickKids.
Dr. Al-Sani strongly thinks that using POCUS as a skill or tool is paramount and advantageous in taking care of critically ill or injured children, POCUS adds a different dimension to a child’s care, especially since it is non invasive, simple to acquire, and performed at the bedside. Simply, POCUS is too cool not to have as a skill!
